Park closures
The park closes three times a year for ecosystem recovery and the rituals of the Kogi, Arhuaco, Wiwa and Kankuamo peoples:
- February 1–15

- October 19 – November 2
Documents and health
- Colombians: ID card; foreigners: passport. No entry without ID.
- Yellow fever vaccine recommended (at least 10 days before).
- Travel insurance recommended: the nearest hospital is in Santa Marta.
- Drink water often and avoid walking between 11 a.m. and 2 p.m.
- Don't swim under a red flag. Swimming at Arrecifes is banned.
